A central pillar of the mission of SCMB is to train and inspire the next generation of cross-disciplinary math-bio researchers. Key to this mission are educational outreach initiatives that bring meaningful math-bio experiences to secondary and undergraduate students. In addition to SCMB’ flagship Undergraduate Workshop and Modeling Accelerator summer programs, the Center has partnered with the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) to deliver engaging math-bio workshops to Atlanta-area students. These activities are designed to show the power of cross-disciplinary thinking, inspire students to forge connections at the boundaries of STEM disciplines, and prime the pipeline for the next generation of research at the math-bio interface.
