Newly funded interdisciplinary mathematics postdoctoral positions for 2021-2022

Description

SCMB invites applications for postdoctoral scholar positions to start August 2021.

Each postdoctoral scholar will be appointed to one of the SCMB home institutions listed above. S/he will be mentored by an interdisciplinary mathematician at that institution, and collaborate with biosystems experimentalists at Georgia Tech as part of an SCMB-funded Seed Project team. For more information on the different Seed Projects, see our research page.

Requirements include: A PhD (or its equivalent) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics or other closely related field; Demonstrated research excellence; Strong oral and written communication skills. Applications from recent PhDs (within three years of the start of the appointment) will receive priority review.

Note that prior interdisciplinary experience is not required; excellent candidates looking to broaden their field of interest are strongly encouraged to apply. The cover letter must clearly communicate interest in an interdisciplinary postdoctoral position and list one, or more, specific Seed Projects of interest.

Note that SCMB’s emphasis on fostering new applications of foundational mathematics, i.e. algebra, geometry, and topology, is balanced by expertise in more applied areas like combinatorics, stochastics, and computation.
